Radars in a Z installs?

You can either buy a hardwire kit and wire it to the rearview mirror, or go to Advance or AutoZone and buy an accessory cigar lighter and wire it wherever you want, then just plug the radar detector into that.
I have used both methods successfully. Sorry, no pics though.

Damn I need this **** hooked up! Cops in my area are hot and tons of camera lights and check points!
Does the radar need to be up high or can it be down low like by where your right leg would be when driving?

I don't have any pics yet, but my radar detector is hardwired in. I tapped the main power wire, on the wire harness that plugs into the factory radio. Then I ran the wire around, and up the driver's side A-pillar, to the roof liner, and then out to the rearview mirror. I'll work on some pics for ya.
Mounting the radar detector up high, will give you better radar range, but you sacrifice your laser protection.

I bought an extension and hardwired the end of the extension into the cig lighter in the back. Turns on with the car, turns off with it. Wire is ran up through the headliner, down the a-pillar, to the back.

Ok, so here are my pics... My direct wire cord is tapped into the 12V power wire on the stock radio harness. The ground loop is at one of the screws that mount the radio bracket to the center console. Whenever the key is turned the detector gets power. The wire is run under the dash, to the driver's side A-pillar, and across the roof liner to the rearview mirror, where it comes out.
There are probably better ways to do this, but this was easiest for me.
