Looking to do something similar as well.

Plan to paint my headlights black but my oem clear headlight covers are hazzy and scratched. i know it will be way more noticeable once i paint my lights.

Anyone know if the ebay oem style headlight covers are any good?

Have been searching ebay and google for this exact same question... I have what appears to be small stress cracks in my 03 hid's... I want to just replace the outer clear cover. Anyone know where to buy these?? Am I stuck just buying a cheap ebay set and removing the outer lens and baking it onto my current Nissan one??

This is a link for a cheaper set... I would prefer to just buy the lens itself and save a few bucks hopefully.

I just did this. I have the bi xenons. all lights have the same cover size. Buy the cehapest ebay lights you can find and swap plastic. Its not hard, and its cheaper than buying new oem headlights. I found a pair pf headlights for like 170 shipped on ebay. Maybe youll get lucky and find cheaper.

Yah, thats what I'm leaning towards. Is it a cheaper plastic? Do you find it scratches/nicks easier than the factory covers??

Wish I could just buy the plastic cover instead of a whole light kit... Maybe save $100+ haha

I hear ya. These plastics looks and feel the same. No scratches. I heard they're more prone to yellowing but I have yet to confirm that though

Cool, good to know!

I've thought about getting clear overlays for them to protect against pitting/chips/etc but have heard that the overlays can cause stress cracks because of the heat build up... You never win! haha

Did you notice if the lens had similiar markings/logos as the OEM? These ebay headlights might be refurbished oem headlights or they bought all the left over slightly defective from the manufacture and are reselling them.

If you can find anyone with extras (highly doubt) Your best off with the ebay ones.

I would be surprised if they were refurb or defects... Probably made in China for really cheap with a lower quality plastic - hence the possible yellowing. Scared to buy knock-off headlights from eBay.

I might stop by a plastics shop here in town and see if they have any ideas on how to go about this... Dream world - They can duplicate the factory ones with some amazing composite, haha.

Sylvania headlight restoration kit comes with a bottle of UV protectant clear coat.
You guys can try using their UV clear coat on those ebay covers to help deter yellowing

As mentioned above use the UV clear coat. One of the reasons that the ebay headlights are so cheap is that they use cheaper plastic often times skipping out on UV protection. That plastic yellows very quickly. I have purchased aftermarket halo projector headlights off ebay and initially they held up ok, but after a year or so they went from clear to yellow in what seemed like 5 minutes.
