Default shaved antenna question?

I am thinking about shaving my antenna and having a body shop fill and paint the rear panel.

My question is about reception.
Option 1: My idea is to zip tie the antenna inside the rear panels to maintain some type of reception.
Option 2: My next idea is to rerun the antenna wire through the hood area and route the antenna through the front fender area and mount near the bottom of the front fender, between the radiator and fender.
Option 3: Same as option 2, except make a shorty antenna and mount it inside the front fender in front of the drives side tire. The antenna will be hidden.

I was considering a hidden antenna, but I heard they were not that good with reception. Also, I figured if I stuck with the stock antenna and relocated it, there would only be the matter of relocating and zip tying it, without rewiring a new antenna.

Any ideas or suggestions on these options, and about reception.

I am looking for responses from owners with this type of mod, or car stereo installers. Not just looking for a answer it will suck.

I am open to options of placing the antenna outside the vehicle but in an area low and hidden from standard view. I am not too familiar with the areas in the bumpers, etc.,, so some ideas of placement would be welcomed.

PLEASE DO NOT RECOMMEND A SHORTY ANTENNA. I ALREADY HAVE ONE AND HAVE NO ISSUES WITH RECEPTION. I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN OPTIONS OF RELOCATING THE ANTENNA. I WANT CLEAN LINES LIKE THE G37 WHICH HAS A ANTENNA, WHICH I BELIEVE IS IN THE WINDOW.

if you was considering a hidden antenna but heard it is bad reception, that is exactly what you described in all three of your suggestions. good luck with this anyway

I heard I would still get reception as I will still be using an antenna. the antenna would be inside the car in the first option, and it would be outside the car in the other two options.

My antenna is already the stock antenna shaved to 6.5", and there is no loss in reception compared to stock, I have even driven around town with the antenna off, and FM hardly suffered in a few areas, but the majority of stations were fine. I do not listen to AM.

Another reason for this idea, is I like shorty antenna but people steal them.

That why I am asking around. I do not know of how many hidden antennas are in production. For all I know there could be a good one, but maybe not cheap. Money is no issue here. OF course I know the cheap ones suck, but maybe someone makes a good quality one. Also, how can you say the reception will suck especially with the last two options, when the antenna will only be in a different spot on the car, and even on the outside.

I've got a Honda S2000 Antenna on mine. No issues with reception. Think it improved it a bit...

FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO SUGGESTED SHORTY ANTENNAS, LEARN TO READ. THE POST STATED NO SHORTY ANTENNA. INTERESTED IN RELOCATION OPTIONS ONLY.....URGH.

IMO, doing any kind of relocation would be a lot of work, with little, or very poor results... There's more involved, than just moving your antenna.

You have a Z and still listen to FM? WOW..If you shave the antenna just go with sat. radio and hide the sat antenna inside the dash. Few threads here where people have mounted a sat antenna inside the dash with no reception issues. I switched to XM 5 years ago and have not listened to FM since.

One day I would like to go with a shaved antenna and would do exactly what red said. I think satellite is the best option.

I thought someone here already did this. If I recall, they pulled the antenna and replaced it with something similar to the G antenna. Only, they ran it up inside both pillars since they couldn't mold it inside the glass.

Well, they could - but, it would cost a lot of money.
