I'm trying to do my A/C controls but it's tough, the dam pads are barely bigger than the contacts on the LED's. I keep wrecking LED's. Can you provide a link to the seller of the LED's on E-Bay?

Went to the local Radio Shack and picked up a 15 watt soldering iron, much smaller point, much easier to work with. I think I fried a bunch of my LED's using the bigger iron.

Anyway, got the A/C Controls all done except for the right angle LED's for the pointers on the dials. Wish I would have paid more attention to what those were for. I may call back and cancel my order for the blue ones and get white instead, I think that would look better than blue.

My guage faces come in this week so I should have them done during the coming weekend.

Here's todays' results.

The Lite-On Blue LED's have been discontinued. I found a replacement at DigiKey.

I will have pics and a full procedure this coming weekend. If you search around the forum, you should be able to find a thread.

Without pics, I can tell you there are 4 bolts you have to take out from under the steering column area. Once those are out, the cluster over the steering wheel lifts right out, just unplug.

Here you go: This is for BLUE right angle LED's. You will need 12 to do the AC controls. These will only work for 03 - 05. 06 and higher do NOT use right angle LEDs.

Thanks for letting me know. I didn't realize the 06 were different. Well I have already done my window switches, the three center gauges, and stearing wheel controls. Do you know where I can get the leds for the climate contro ls? I took them apart to see what was envolved and it looks like they use 3 extremely small leds for each control. I am not sure where to get those.

06 - 08 use 0603 type Surface Mount LEDs, and yes, 3 per dial. Check mouser.com or digikey.com. They are harder to work with then both the PLCC2 types and the right angle ones.

More good stuff coming on the DIY. I found a guy who is going to sell me a strip of polarity reversing film for the odometer LCD. That one is normally dark characters on a light background and is harder to light and see in daytime. With the reversal, it will be like the center console trip computer LCD, light on dark background, much easier to see.

I wont get the part though until after June 1.

Meanwhile, I discovered a source for the interior blinker indicators and a right angle LED module for the hatch light. Those parts should be in today or tomorrow with install and confirming I got the right parts and the right effects by this weekend.

1 step forward and 1 step back today.

I got the hatch area flank LED in. Plugged it in and it did not light up. I reversed it so the LEDs were facing away from the lense and they lit up nice.

I thought all I would have to do is cut and swap the wires going into the clip. NOPE.

There is a resistor in series on the positive leg of the clip that holds the bulb inside the lense. Without that resistor on the positive lead, no go.

More research...

Interior blinker indicator bulbs for the steering wheel cluster should be in tomorrow or Friday.

The procedure for converting the entire interior, except dome lights, is here.

https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...onversion.html

I'll be posting an updated procedure for the 06 - 08 AC controls tomorrow.

Unknown but I used leaded. Actually, Nissan outsources these to Denso.

When removing the LED's if a temp of around 340 was what you were using then it appears to be leaded.

Thanks.

Wow I've never seen this thread til now. Great job on picking up the mods guys. This thread is exactly why I never made a detailed write up. My belief is that if someone could not figure out how to do the conversion from the information I provided, then they do not have the skill level to complete the conversion. Very nice job on the gauge conversion Mich. It looks great.
