370z side (Z) blinker
^^^Nasty winter here, it will probably be late March before I get mine on. I am busy rebuilding the engine of my daily Toyota Pickup right now. Z gets to be daily in the meantime so I am very motivated to get Yota up and put Z in for remainder of winter.
These are my intentions,
- electrical :cut off the connecter on the emblem (I don't have a female connecter), i will solder 2 new wires to the original emblem and select the correct 2 wires on the front blinkers. (simple, have done this on many of my cars, radio rewireing, xeon lights .......)
- The new hole :
On the original emblem, there are 2 small holes, on the new emblem as you already know requires 1 big hole, what i will be doing is (on paper) making a simple template (one for both sides), once the templates are done, measure out the size of the drill bit I will be using (I'm thinking a drill bit used for door handles, should do the trick), however, the center hole is the most important otherwise the big hole will be off (and you don't want that).
I'm working on this on my spare time, also the weather up here is not helping, I'm working on the templates, once I have those done, I will setup a procedure on this forum with pictures if possible.
And my wife is not aware of anything yet, I won't tell her to see if she actualy notices the difference, otherwise she would be complaining not to touch my 350z 2007.

Well guys, the right side template is completed, next probably tonight or tomorrow morning I`ll work on the left side template (the template will be used to drill in the exact center where the original emblem presently seats).
Once both templates have been tested 100% on a metal plate, that phase will be completed.
Next phase : the wireing, I'll take pictures of everything and include a copy of the templates (you`ll just print the templates off your printer and tape them on the vehicle to cut out the hole).
PS the only time I can work on this project is when the wife is not arround. hee hee hee

Oddly enough I am at the dealership now (getting a check engine light looked at) and was getting ready to PM you when I remembered that TripleD found them at Courtesy Parts a lot cheaper. If they are not willing to ship to the UK let me know and I will help you out.
Well, guy's the templates are done, the old connecters have been replaced with an additional 10' of wire.
The drill bit has been tested for the correct size (drill bit size required 2 1/4 for metal normaly used to drill door handles).
My next phase is the weather, I need to wait for the warm weather, I'll be taking pictures.

If I use the 2 1/4 drill bit, the emblem is too loose for my liking, so I've
changed the size to 2 1/8 drill bit size.
It's tighter in some spots on the emblem, which means it will require a little sanding or chiping off some plastic in some areas.
The weather is still to cold to work on the car outside, my next house will have a garage (double door).
