Do you have a multi-meter? If so check the voltage at the battery terminals while it's running...if it matches your gauge the voltage regulator is probably bad. I know when i first start my car it reads almost 16, like 15.5v, but settle down to 14.4 after warm up

Temperature has an effect on voltage. usually on a cold morning during a cold start, you will have high voltage. normal.

Hmmm, I would definitely check the voltage at the terminals with a multimeter.
Like someone said earlier, it could be a regulator going bad. Overvoltage will cause bulbs (like your headlight) to go out, and sometimes explode.

No, the terminals are clean that was one of the frist things I checked. Bringin a battery meter home from work tonight to check the voltage also.
