You Think JDM BLINGS [ played out ]
you guys didn't get it when i said carbon fiber (over-done) meaning carbon fiber dash kit, rims, gauge cluster cover, shift *****, this and that... too much CF!!!....
except that;s attached to a CCxR, not a 350Z
I'd still opt for a painted one (if I had the means, and if it were offered).
It's all down to ones own opinion. Personally, I don't like lots of exposed carbon - I think it looks nice as an accent, but I don't like it for large areas.
To the OP - played out? Yes, in many ways I think many of those things are. Done as far as a trend? Nope, not by a long shot. There are so many variations of things, that it's hard to lump everything into one pot

Carbon fiber is LAME. Unless you have your car sitting in the garage year round, and only bring it out to race, then carbon fiber is ridiculously stupid. Especially the carbon fiber hood that does not match the car paint!!!
The way you embelish your car today with carbon fiber will be looked at like Burt Reynold's Trans Am tomorrow. Carbon fiber is functional when used for structural components in an effort to lighten the car----otherwise CHEESE!

Meh... Carbon is cool. If its functional, even better. If its a dash kit, meh, still looks better than plastic.
Most of the body panels on my bike are CF and I'll be honest... The weight savings was minimal. The stock plastics already weighed nothing, so the CF really made almost no difference. But it sure looks purrdy!
