Default ++Seibon CF hatch Problem++

Hi
I just got my hatch from Seibon and installed it.
I have problem get it close correctly. The gap between edge of the hatch and rear quarter panel is so big. I can put my whole hand in to the gap.

I did adjust the latch as far as I can but seem like it didn't help at all.

I finally had to remove my hatch damper to get the hatch close perfectly because it seem like the CF hatch is really flexible so the damper push it up.
So right now it's look good like it should but I don't have damper on my hatch. I have less function but not that bad.

So I'm trying to ask people who has CF hatch if you guys have the same problem.

I did search and didn't find anything. If my search skill was bad I'm sorry.
thanks for reading

This is a common problem with all carbon fiber hatches. The hatches are considerably lighter then stock, so the stock hatch dampers are too powerful for the new lighter hatch causing it to raise. JT makes some hatch dampers specifically for carbon fiber hatches but are pretty hard to come by instock. This has been a cure for almost everyone who ran into this same problem.

If it really doesn't bother you, you sould be fine with no dampers but it's a pain to open and close.

I had the same problem with my Asuka hatch. I just removed the dampers. Its been that way for a year now. It sucks when you have to put or pull something out since one hand will be tied up holding up the hatch. The other problem is that the hatch does not pop when unclocked. You have to push it up will unlocking.

It's worth it IMO!

The hatch is a good fit. You should consider painting the doors.

+1. Paint the doors and add cf a pillars and roof caps. I would still suggest cf hatch shocks from Z1 to hold your hatch. Works beautifully with mine..

If I wanna paint my door I wouldn't by carbon fiber doors. I bought the door because of the look. Weight saving is a plus.

I like the way it is now.

I might go CF all over the car in the future.

thanks for comment.

Yeah, stock Hatch struts are too powerful for The lightweight Carbon Hatches and will push the Ish out of them. You have to get aftermarket Hatch Struts That are designed to work with the lighter hatch.

So you've spent over $5000 on you car from what I can see in the pictures, and yet you still have the stock antenna?
