Default 2008 - Steering Wheel Pieces

Hello all,

I'm hoping you might be able to help me with something. I was installing a new stereo in my car. In my infinite wisdom I tried to take off the trim piece that covers over the stereo controls on the steering wheel. I ended up snapping off the tabs that hold it in. Now the plate won't stay on.

One of the problems is that the tabs come from the wheel and the plate snaps onto it. So, it's not a matter of buying a new plate and sticking it on. I don't know if whatever those tabs were connected to even comes out to be replaced.

Secondly, I don't think trying to glue it back on is going to hold because it seems to me like there is a considerable amount of pressure needed to hold that plate down flat.

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks guys.

I'm looking to take mine off, I don't have any controls on the steering wheel, just want to pop both pieces off, paint and put back on. I found and removed that screw from behind, does is just require prying out now?
