I am confused as to why my heater is not putting out hot air.

Symptoms. Well I just replaced my AC compressor because it went out. Unfortuately I have to re replace it because the one I put in was bad as well. Needless to say I am pissed.

I was driving tonight and my windows started to fog up, so I turned on the heater to dry them up. The air came on and was blowing well, but there was no heat coming out. Just regular air temp, not heated temp.

I did have to replace the fuse to the airconditioner because it was blown. I didnt know if I may have blown a fuse to the heater so I checked all my fuses under the hood and nothing is blown.

What am I missing, I am sure this has to be inter related.

 

Someone said something to me about the heater control valve, I want to check it but I dont know where it is, any help?

 

have you recently replaced/filled the coolant? If there are air bubbles, heat won't work

Check your coolant. I had a problem with now heat, come to find out my coolant was almost empty.

 

Yes, I replaced my ac compressor yesterday and had to drain the coolant, I will check that and see if that fixes the problem.

 

The car was a little low on coolant, i cant seem to get this damn air pocket out of the car, I bleed the rear screw until fluid came out but my high side radiator line still has air in it. The car is not overheating and the air has warmed up a bit, I think this is my problem. I just cant figure out how to get all the air out of the line.

 

you have to put it in a vacuum to get the air out. you need to have the proper A/C tools to pull the air out otherwise you have to take it to someone to get it done

 

keep heating it up. eventually due to the expansion of the water, it will force the air into the rad where you will fill it and get the air bubble out. expect to do this about 4-5 times.
you will know it is full and no bubbles when you are blowing hot air at idle. don't rely on the stock gauge to tell you anything, it doesn't move from 180-230.

 

back to the car I go

 

little by little it is getting there

 

try bleeding the air out with your heater on and press the button with a picture of air circulating inside the cabin to on position. sometimes air gets stuck in the heater core, doing this bleeds the air out completely. at least that's how i bleed air out of my radiator system. just a suggestion, hope this helps in any way.
