Folks, I've seen many members here with that rainbow-titanium neo chrome-esque effect on their headlights. It looks sort of like if you saw oil or fuel in seawater, that multicolor effect (sorry, I searched and can't find example pics).
So how is it done? By a spray, overlays, painted plastic cover, etc.?

If there is a polarizing filter over the lens of your camera, pictures with it will make it appear to have the rainbow effect. I don't know if point and shoot cameras have the filter, but I have a polarizing filter on my digital SLR, and any headlight pic I have shows a rainbow effect.
In person the effect is not there.

FWIW, my painted parts were out of the headlights for a couple of months over the winter.

+1 to gr8scott. You get that effect from a polarized lens filter on a camera. It is NOT a special paint or film. Sometimes you can see it with the naked eye depending on light conditions.
If you have polarized sunglasses, put them on and look at any clear plastic surface. You'll see the rainbow colors. Clear tape, saran wrap, plastic screens, you name it, it'll have that rainbow colorization.

try taking a heat gun and heat the outside of the lens and it will somewhat give you the rainbow effect. dont heat it too much cause you dont want it to melt. i just did this a few days ago and i can say that it somewhat help. and make sure your lens are clean of any dirt and grime before you do this.
There has to be a way to have headlights with that affect, they used it alot in the 90's and 80's. It was a stronger affect of variance or color than the one you could see factory clear lens. By the way it would look tight with matching vloks gramlights with neo lip, pls inform me if anyone finds out how to do it
