Polyurethane material preparation

Hi guys, I'd like to know what the proper prepping method is for polyurethane materials if they are to be painted. More specifically, I'd like to know if it's possible to sand PU materials.

It's a front bumper. i'm not sure how your question pertains to my question though. maybe i misunderstood what you were trying to ask.
