Sparco Evo 2 Seat installed, pics.
Took a while to get the seating position just perfect and that isn't easy because it's a totally fixed mount. Originally, it had a slider, but that just took up way too much headroom; nearly a full 1". getting it perfect is really just a trial and error situation. I can also quickly lower the back part of the seat without removing it from the car, great to gain a bit of extra headroom if needed on a bumpy track.
The seat uses the regular Sparco side mounts bolted directly to a bracket made specifically for the 350Z. The bracket that bolts to the floor has a place to bolt the stock seatbelt receiver so you can use your stock belt on the street.
All that is left to do now is install my roll bar as soon as they get a new one welded up for me (for those that didn't read my other thread, they welded the first one in a way that wouldn't fit) and attach my 5 point. The 5 point is just clip in for the lap and crotch belts, and the shoulder belts wrap around the roll bar.

The seat is also surprisingly comfortable. If you take the time to get it into the right position, I might even say it's more comfortable than the stock seat. I would have no problem driving 500miles in this seat. The Evo 2 seat BTW is a seat designed for larger drivers over 200lbs. I am 6'2" tall and about 230lbs. For me, it's perfect, but a smaller driver might want to check out some of the other Sparco offerings. Hell, they even make an Evo 3 for the really big boys!!!! The seat is an FIA Homologated (race certified and crash tested) seat as are the brackets.
Looks great. I'm looking to make a Z my next track car. It's a ways off yet, though. I want to go another season with my Celica to work on skills before I go doubling my HP!
I noticed that you are almost exactly the same weight and height as me, so I have a question. How was head clearance in a helment with the stock seats? I thought the dealer might get jumpy if I brought a helmet to my test drive so I couldn't tell for sure.
Incidently, clearance sucks in the Celica. I have to recline the seat well back from ideal and even then my head feels pressed against the roof (sunroof doesn't help either)

Hmm, hitting head is better than it being pressed against it. Still, it can't be safe to be that close. I better go back to the dealer and take my helmet along this time I think.
Thanks for the reply!

Man, the seat looks great, thats my next mod for sure.
So, where did you get the bracket to mount the seat to the floor?
I assume the front to rear adjustability is fairly easy. I'm only 5'8" but I'm a bit "husky" at 205 or so. :-)

Since you are shorter, you can go with a slider. An FIA approved slider runs about $45. I had to ditch the slider because I am just too damn tall from the waist up, I have a long torso I guess.
I get my race gear from Josh at Werks 2 motorsports in Burbank, Ca. His # is: 818-845-2530. It's a real race shop, not a rice shop. They are in the same building with Guldstrand Corvette. Tell him Steve sent you.
