I really need a new shift ****
I really liked the OEM one but it's been going downhill really fast over the past few months. My only complaints were that the metal top would get hot enough to burn the shift pattern into your palm in the summer and it's freezing cold in the winter. I really like the look of the brushed ball style but I'm thinking metal isn't for me. Has anyone tried the TWM Phantom "Hybrid"? http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/shiftkn...0350Z&twmonly= or know of any leather wrapped ball styles that are heavier than OEM?

Yeah its that worn thanks to 95k+ miles of "spirited" driving I'm starting to replace everything that's worn out on the car and driving it another 50k at least. The only thing this car has ever needed was brake pads and tires. Just put new wheels and tires on last week and a whole new suspension and shift **** are next on the list.

Here's one source:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOMO-Aluminum-Sport-Shift-****-ALUSP-/300517656659?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item 45f83f8853&vxp=mtr
The specs shown for this **** have always been listed incorrectly, at least as far as I've seen, and I have this **** on 4 cars (the Z, and 3 Alfa's). First, it does have internal threads, which correctly match the Z shifter, although on some cars you may instead use the 3 Allen screws instead. Second, no way it's aluminum. Much too heavy, and if you look inside, it looks like brass.
Mine's mounted on the Nismo adjustable short shifter, with a rubber ballcock washer under the base of the ****, and the Alcantara boot is from this eBay vendor: http://stores.ebay.com/thetuningshop

I love the style of the OEM shift ****. There's really no reason to replace it except for a better weighted ****. Aftermarket shift ***** encourage break-ins too. I try to keep my interior as plain and bare as possible.
Metal ***** burn your hand and aftermarket leather ***** are usually ugly, too long, or look cheap. I've always liked MOMO's Anatomico (short version) but it isn't threaded and loosens up easily:
TWM's Phantom Hybrid looks good but it's so expensive.
