Craig you need some type of retainer in between the shifter boot and ****
I actually had a nismo shift **** prior to this one and I had the collar that is made for the nismo. I put that on with the wood but didn't like it. Haven't found one I really like to contrast the wood so I just put a washer under the shift boot that keeps the boot up tight against the wood.
And I can post on here tomorrow about the place that made mine. They allow you to do choose whatever shape/color wood **** you want
I just wasn't ever too crazy about anything. The I feel like anything under it takes away from the wood. And once I did the washer mod thing I just kinda never looked back.
The cherry one I plan to make a big ball, the others are a bit skinny so im going to try and make them similar to my nismo size and shape. Ive never used acrylic before so I am going to experiment with that...
Im having some trouble getting my lathe set up once I work out the kinks hopefully I can get some made...
The nuts at 72 cents... The wood varies. Got the cherry piece for cheap and the other piece was $2. The acrylic pieces are like $10-15 depending on the size. They had ab awesome red and black one but I figured I would see how this small one goes before I get too carried away.
has anyone had problems getting the oem shifter **** off? I just tried to get mine off, I took off the climate console and the trim around the shifter. I put tape around the metal part of the shifter lever under the leather boot and attached a vice grip to it and tightened it all the way. Also taped the bottom metal part of the original shifter **** and attached another vice grip to that turning it counter clock wise while trying to keep the lever still so i wouldn't damage the transmission in any way but the lever still seemed to turn and my OEM shifter eventually cracked and the gear map on the top popped off due to the pressure. After that I decided to give up for the time being. Has anyone had similar issues removing their shifter ****? I have a 2003 which I've heard is more difficult for whatever reason. If anyone can offer suggestions on how to remove the original please let me know I'm desperate to get it off and put my new one on.

Since it's already torn up,cut it off. Or keep twisting it.
