actually i got a spare set from people on the forum as a back up set to the ones on the car, just in case someone stole the ones off my car. so i sent the backup ones to be black pearl-ized. and yes they did put new adhesive on the backings.

Those look nice. When I saw your post I remembered seeing a link to a "DIY" site where some guy did his own emblems on his Toyota 4-Runner. I stumbled across it when I did a search for "Emblem tape".

If anyone is interested, this is the link. He claims it cost a total of $7.43 and of course his own labor. He used paint and it is definately not electroplated........I never tried it so I can't vouch for how it will come out in person. The pics at the link will give you an idea.

DAmn those electroplated emblems look sweet. Too bad theyre soo much money. The DIYer is ok but def. not as good as the electroplated ones. I wish i could buy a batch of the emblems and get them plated. Im sure this would save alot of people on the cost. Too bad i got a freakin speedin ticket plus the 6 points on my license. I just cant afford these things right now.

Uhhh guys, do not follow this guys DIY instructions!!!!

HE used testors model paints which are oil based. IF you use your Hatch emblem like I do (as a handle) the paint will wear off in less than a week!

Thanx

My SB is shaved in the back after body work, I have the new badges but havnt got them installed yet. Sorry no pics yet. Zs are still rare here, wo the badges people dont have a clue what the car is, and the OEM bra covers the badge in front. It does look pretty awesome shaved.

Same here. I was thinking of using some Testors 'model car' paint. That would look nice on your Z with the Gunmetal Wheel that you have.

MGL do you have your door handles electroplated too? I wanna know how long it'll take for it to start fading off.

MGL, I called Jane and talked to her and she said that they don't do it anymore because there were so much problems with the black pearl/gold plating. She said she couldn't handle all the complaints and returns. The main problem was that they would leave fingerprints on the emblems and they would stay on them forever. You're one of the fortunate ones that came out good. I guess I'll keep on searching for mine. Thanx for the info though
