I was deciding on getting a new shifter **** for my stock 07 Z, but wasnt sure how complicated it is to take the stock one off? and install a new one???. Is it a pain to do so? I couldn't find any thread (with pictures) on this so anyone can help me out.. that would be great... thanks!!!

It is not very hard, but you need to be patient. Lift up on the trim around the shifter to expose the shaft. Clamp a vice grip on the shaft and use a large vice grip on the **** itself. Make sure to put some sort of cloth between the teeth of the grip and the **** so you don't tear it up. Hold the vice grip on the shaft perfectly still while you twist the grip on the ****. It will take some pressure but it will come off. But like I said, do not let the grip on the shaft start to twist at all! Good luck!

Deff easy as pie...

1st. To take the trim off. Push down nd pull back and up on the shift boot, the trim should pop right off (jJust don't pull the boot completely off because there is a wire that goes to the temp ***** that easily rips).

2nd. Then hold onto the shift linkage so it doesn't move (you want to do this or it will screw with the tranny).

3rd. Then twist the **** off. I didn't need to use vice grips but they will help if it's too hard to twist off.

4th. Put the shift **** and any other pieces onto the shifter and screw on (you should still be holding onto the linkag).

5th. Pop the trim back in and your done
