Default New Headlights!!

This thread is for two reasons...
  • Reason 1 To talk about a good transaction that went through the marketplace. Seems like lately A LOT of scams
  • Reason 2 Wh*re out some pics of my new headlights

So I upgraded to '06 headlights!! Purchased from ASTROZOMBIE, really good guy!! Was able to send me pictures and was very honest with the condition of the headlights. Their is a slight chip in the passenger lens I didn't know about, but realistically they are headlights that were on the road. **** happens... Really happy, and just wanted to post something positive!
I am also part of "scam" with a vendor on here...and going through my paypal dispute nonsense like a lot of other people. Surfing the forum today I just kept reading so much negative! I just felt I needed to post something positive since I too had been posting negatively on that other thread.

Anyways, now to the REAL reason...Pic wh*ring! This was a last minute thought so the pics were taken just now in my garage. Car is filthy with 3 round trips totaling 600+ miles each. But getting a FULL detail Friday and will post better pics when my new lip comes in

I have a red LED in each headlight, and the switch turns the LED's on. The headlights have to be off in order for the red to shine through.
A DIY has been put up about this, and actually the guy that did the DIY is who I bought the headlights from

Awesome! Those are definatly blacked out! Do the turn indicators still work well? I question how easy someone can see it from a distance...

BTW how do you compare the light output? Much much better or just marginally? Did you get new HID bulbs or use your old or did it come with them?

Congrats on the good buy... I've been wanting to do this forever, but just couldn't afford it, so I spent $100 on some BMW E46 bixenon HID projectors and tore open my 04 headlights, ripped out that rubbish stock projector, and put in the BMW ones. Waaaay better!

Yep turn signals work just find! You don't black out the amber bulbs so you can see them from a distance just like unpainted headlights.
Light output is AMAZING. The projectors are bigger and let so much more light flow through. These came complete w/ ballast / bulbs etc.

Yea i've debated retro fitting my '05s but I love the look of the '06's and brights back is a huge plus!

Well the reflector part appears to be blacked out, a lot of light gets reflected there forward so traffic in the distance can more easily see your turn indicator flashing. Now instead of the bulb and reflector, you just have the bulb, a lot smaller area and probably less light the opposing traffic would see. Probably isn't legal but if it isn't obviously hard to see you'll probably be left alone by the popo's.

What year Z did these come off of? If they were from 2006 or 2007 those HID bulbs are 3-4 years old. They do get dimmer after about 2 years of use. A fresh new pair of HID bulbs might make a noticeable improvement in light output as well.

Yeah the size difference in the projectors is huge... here's a comparison pic between mine. I know its not the 2006+ projector but it's probably the same lens size.

I too like the 06+ headlight design... but actually i'm quite happy with how my retro turned out. Sorry, i'm going to hijack pic-***** your thread here a little.

And don't HID highbeams just kick ***!?

Yea, they're off an 06 but to be honest I don't have anything to compare them to except my '05's soooo lol way better. Maybe I should try a different set just to see if their is a noticeable difference.
thread-jacker!! haha jk, i was going to ask you to post some up, they look great man!! did you do a DIY on it?

Well you can get a brand new set of OEM Phillips HID bulbs off ebay for about $70 or so... If you have the cash might be worth a try. If there is little difference, just hold onto the old ones as spares.

I'm pretty happy with how my retro turned out. I thought about going flat black inside, but I guess I was just lazy. But I think it looks good, especially from a distance! lol

A DIY... ehh, sort of maybe kind of... I took a fair bit of pics but didn't really make a step-by-step DIY.
