Default Rear Cabin noise

Hey guys, I'm brand new to this forum, but I have a quick question.

I just bought my 07' Enthusiast coupe about a week ago.

The car runs great, and had no noises inside of the car, it only had one previous owner but here is the issue.

When I'm driving at slow speeds i can hear something in the rear of the cab "moving around" I can't really explain the noise, but it's definitely coming from inside of the cabin and it only happens when I go over bumps or uneven parts of the road at slow speeds.

I'm thinking its the spare tire and its components that got shifted after I did donuts/drifted in the rain (the noise started after that). I visually looked and felt all of the visible spare tire parts and nothing seemed to be loose, but maybe I missed something. Have any of you guys had this same issue?

lol, well of course that works, but I don't want that damn noise anymore. I just bought the car so I've just been listening to it like if it was my first baby in another room while listening to one of those "baby monitors". Maybe i should just pull the spare out and all of its accessories and see if the noise persists.

Sounds like a clunking noise?

Search for the thread with the same name.

No, its almost like a slight squeak/movement from inside. Do the stock struts ever make noises with all of that plastic surrounding it?

Welcome. Take everything out of the car. Drive around. Then put the items inside one by one. You will find the culprit.

I'm pretty sure its something that has to do with the spare, I was just wondering if any of you ever got the same kind of noise and all that was needed to be done was to tighten something down. I would go outside right now and start messing around with it, but its dark and my car isn't in a garage right now. I just thought i could get some pointers from other Z owners before I proceed to take out the spare/parts tomorrow.

i doubt your getting a squeak fron the inside of your car man.. spare tire would be more of a clunk noise due to the weight of it.. seat? seatbelt? hatch?

Yeah it could be and/or the hatch. I don't hear it at higher speeds, 40+... only going through town and what not.

edit: its not really a squeak like a mouse or anything, it just makes a noise that something is obviously loose. Sorry for my newby post, this is my first Z and I just want to make sure everything is going good with it.

i didn't notice it right away, but yes the noise started after I did probably 10 donuts in the dry and some drifting in the rain. I checked the undercarriage for loose parts but couldn't come up with anything.

edit: I drove around for a while after the donuts/drifting and didn't notice, but when i started to hit bumps and other obstructions on the road i could hear the noise. I appreciate all of your input.

That could be a winner only takes one time to get an awkward noise from something.. check the components tomorrow but if its not that then take it to the dealer your under warranty.. i wouldnt worry about it tho.. prob just something dumb and obvious you just looked over and missed

Yeah if i can't find the problem myself I'll take it to them. I have a 100k / 8year? warranty, so I'm sure it'll be covered.

On another note. Thanks guys for actually responding to my post. I went on another 350z forum and it sucked fat ***, it seemed like everybody just read posts and never actually said anything to help. So once again, Thanks. I think I found a new forum home for myself!

I believe I get the same noise you're describing. It's almost a faint tapping noise, almost like plastic on metal. Sound right??

If so, I believe it's related to the struts. Could be the stoppers/springs as well.

It never bothered me enough to bring mine in, though.

It's a sports car, it makes noises, no biggie.

If you think it could be something else that may effect performance or something, though, then you should have it checked out.

Either way, let us know what you find out!

Yeah that sounds about right, like a metal/plastic slight movement noise. I can't hear it at high speeds though, its only when I'm going ~30 over small bumps or other shitty parts of the road (thanks California for constructing such great roadways!) I'll check it out tomorrow and see what I come up with and let you guys know if I find the problem. I'm driving to Northern california from southern cali tomorrow so i wanted to get this noise fixed before I went. But it's definitely not something performance wise (at least thats what I'm hoping) I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for your help.

^^^ Yep, sounds like the same thing. It's only when I go over small bumps as well. Almost like something is tapping. I get it when I go above 30mph, though. Good luck w/ the fix!
