Default 07 Auto Center Console Removal

Sorry for the new thread, however, I'm having a hard time trying to find the answers I'm looking for.

I have an 07/auto/grand touring, and recently got a garmin nuvi as a gift. I would like to install this garmin unit in the center console, however, I have a question about how to remove the center console.

I have found in another thread two ".pdf"'s which describe how to remove the A/T ring, however, it refers to a document called "SRS-40, Removal And Installation"... also, when looking at the picture, it shows the selector lever to be in the drive position. How, when the car is off, would I put it in "drive"? Also, do I even need to move the lever into drive, or can I simply begin the process by "popping" the silver A/T ring out with a screwdriver?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Thanks R350Zz33... I'll ask one more question... do I need to unplug the battery when diconnecting the stereo? I'm not sure how the Z is wired up, and don't want to some how screw something up by disconnecting the AC and Stereo with the battery still connected...

I would recommend unplugging the battery, personally. I do it even when I'm changing out intakes - it's just precaution.

Btw, let me know how annoying it is to take out the ring on your AT. Mine is a royal *****, and I'm too scared to break its clips so I backed off on pulling it up. Can you link me to the PDFs you found here? I'm going to replace my HU shortly.

Haha taking out the center ring is a pain.. I wanted to install a HU myself when I first got the Z. I didnt want to break the clips either so I took it to someone I trusted and they got it out fine.
