Heh... I was talking about casting an even glow inside the reflector using the Luxeons.

If I have time this wintertime, I'll experiment.

yeah I think I understand what you were saying tho. its a good idea, regular side emitting LEDs are a bit pathetic, their light is spread too thin IMO, but luxeons may be able to pull it off.

Any updates? The stock parking light ruins the look of the xenon headlamp. These lights are exactly what I am looking for.

arghh... I'm tired of waiting for Luxeons. I'm about to give up and just buy a new Yamaha keyboard. >:-( My other one toasted... and I hope it's not because of my blue LED mod done months ago.

Man I dunno what's up... I was told they'd get here in mid-december. So far my credit card hasn't been charged yet to my knowledge. No white, amber, or stars...

Oh yes, somehow the lost package from China arrived at my door yesterday. I contacted the seller and he hasn't responded yet. So that gives me almost 400 Amber and 200 White LEDs.... that's nutz... i don't even need this much.

update: the wedge bases arrived, and are on their way to me. if luxeon gets some LEDs to me quicker then they have to djtonium; I should have them for sale by the end of the month.

bulb sizes available are 7440 and 194, fitting most all lights in the car, all 4 turn signals, parking lights and backup lights. brake light replacments will come later.

Ill keep you all updated.

Wah? I order from KS... well they come from China. Too bad I can't order myself a hot chinese date. :-/ No really, even with my car dates are hard to come by. :-P

Anyhow, the 7440 bases are pretty low profile and look very nice once you paint them silver. The challenge, though, is fitting everything in so careful with the placement of the resistor. The APCs I have is a little bigger, but sticks out too much.

As far as my Prototype IIs go, it's still working great! I do notice brightness weakening just a tiny bit. That's normal with Luxeons or any LEDs. They slowly lose a little brightness and then it balances out. You can't really do much with the "decay."

At least it still lights up a little bit of the ground and pretty much everything in front of it... but that's easily noticible with the headlights off. However, they light up the walls brighter than my 194 Luxeons.

yeah Im leaning towards running everything at a safe 100mA rather than overdriving anything and having heat issues.

You'll get heat no matter what @ 100mA... the more current, the more heat will dissipate. At 20mA, you can hardly feel it. So even if you run it at 100mA, heat will stil be there. The emitters can handle 350mA operation if you have the heatsink attached. But since it'll be flashing, you can hardly feel the heat.

My trunk light emitter is running about 350mA and it's always in a constant on situation. That thing is still bright and it blinds a few of my friends at night.

So either way... light output will decay over time no matter how much current you'll be running.

I'll take pictures over the weekend to show you what the the light output is now + 194s + trunk light.

It's still going strong.

Timing on this one looks like it may work out quite well...I'm making good progress on my control box. I just finished up the Programming mode earlier today, so that's a major milestone.

Oh, and dj, most poor schlubs like us have a hard time getting quality dates regardless of the cars we're driving

Why are you guys having heat issues? I thought LEDs weren't supposed to heat up?
