Default Trying to see what the interest might be

I am making a prototype of a 5ml thick flex board (about the same thickness
as a credit card, or even less) that will fit into the 2003, 2006 350Z rear turn signal housing. It will have around 80 super bright LED's between the turn signal
and backup lights. It will be designed so as to not need any external resistors to keep the flash rate correct. I am trying to gauge if people want a plug n play option or something where they install the board themselves and of course, what people would be willing to pay, depending on if they want PnP or self install.

To the MOD's, if this is not the correct place for this thread...I do apologize.

Thanks...

I picked up a set of turn signal lights to work on so I don't need to remove mine
before these are finished. Once I have them ready, I will mount them to my car and then modify the ones removed.

What are these worth to you in terms of $$$ if it is a simple plug n play
thing, where you install the ones I send and provide yours to me as a core.

Op....you would get better responses if you were to create a poll instead and also let people suggest their opinions.

I can do something similar...this is a picture of a board I designed for
something else but it gives you an idea what I am striving to do, just with
less IC and LED's of the correct type. The length and shape would be designed for the turn
signal housing.

Just FYI, credit cards are 30mil PVC, so 5mil is VERY thin!

I can vary the thickness as needed. A "board house" will make them according to my specifications. I think 5ml is suitable for flexibility so as to follow the curve of the lens. The one in the picture is 8ml but needed to be more rigid
than the turn signal would require. The 8ml still flexes but wants to return to being straight. I can also add an option for some that mimic the European rear fog light with the drivers side.

Pretty cool. Didn't know people manufacture these in low volumes (1 at a time?).

I was just pointing out that 5mil is 1/6th the thickness of a standard CC, so you didn't think it was the same thickness. I didn't realize you were going to have it manufactured for you.

If there is enough interest, I would do a run of 100 boards which is 50
sets of signals...once the board house does a run, each successive run
costs less as they already have the setup fee from the first run but I
suspect 50 is enough between here and eBay.

I believe the vehicles flash rate is controlled by a relay? if this is true, then
I can get that relay, modify it to accept the lower voltage of LED's and skip
the internal resistor circuit. If the flash rate is governed by a computer, then I'd prefer to use resistor circuitry.

I would definitely be interested. Just shoot me a PM if you decide to follow through with it.

I am working on the circuit now but I have a question.

What governs the flash rate? Is it a relay or a function of a computer
or possibly built into the switch itself. If it is a relay, I can have a new relay
made to avoid the resistor issue with the flash rate increasing from lower
resistance in the circuit but that might be an issue as well for people
with bulbs up front vs LED up front using a resistor.
