Lightbulb Gauge Pods, passenger side knee area?

curious of where im going to mount some gauges i eventually will put in... right now i have my boost and oil temp gauges temporarily screwed into factory holes on the passenger side....

i wonder how it would look if there was a full plastic cover and molded holes to point the gauges toward me... but would this get in the way of the passenger's knees? everything over in that region is dead air behind the plastic cover...

see image.

any ideas?

I used the vents on the doors, they are perfect for mounting guages. Here is what they look like.

And before any of the A/F ***** start chiming in, my A/f is wired to its own 02 Sensor out of an 86 Sentra, Its tapped just after the y Pipe and IM running test pipes so I get both banks...

That is BAD ***. HE is right too. I was just noticing today that that vent is not far from drivers line of sight.

Nothing impresses me more than extra dials and lights. Cool mod!

Oh and Chebosto I say delete crappy factory HU, go aftermarket and place the gauges underneath the new HU (of course set into a bezel) Ive got a sony that blends with factory trim and an empty little shelf where I keep sunglasses , stereo remote ect.
Someday I hope to have PSI and EGT there not to mention A/F

You know your way around. Ditch the nav and put 'em there.

Since this car is driver oriented, you might as well do some sort of custom dash for the passenger area.

Either that, an HUD, or a huge LCD panel with some sort of software to show info about your car with tweakable parameters (dream).

djtonium were half way there. HKS has a system called the camp. It monitors your most of your vehicles info and displays it on an indash monitor. So far no tuning with it though. Hey Tim looks great. gotta see it in person.

Only problem is with the HKS CAMP is that it is no longer being made. You will need to find places that still carry them. I think the junction box is getting harder to find.

i dont wanna lose my Nav, my gf cant read maps... its a god send-

as far as the stock gauge pod goes.. i dont think i would mind losing the battery gauge- but which gauges look stock like...

i wouldnt mind a digital read out either.... i might pick up the Techtom MDM100 or their new CMX100 for water temp, air temp, timing readouts...

can u use an aftermarket head unit with the stock nav? dont u lose the voice guidance?

Maybe not, I suppose it depends on how it interfaces. MAybe it plugs into the speakers wiring harness instead of into the deck.

But cant you do without that annoying voice? A small price to pay for BLING
