Customized stock hood?

i think it will help you tons.. and about those slots in the oem hood... i dont see it being possible unless u stripped the paint.. and used something like a plasma cutter... then ud have to paint it all over again.. as u couldn't plasma with paint.. and it would burn off surrounding paint when used..
so all that trouble i think ud be better off buying a fiberglass / carbon fiber hood.. then doing it or buying one that it was already done on
yea on my trans am I changed the thermostat out first... and it still got hot as hell.. it wasnt till I got the car tunned and the fan temps changed that I noticed a huge difference.. when you go to get the car tunned be sure to tell them that you want your fan kick in temps lowered.. or they may not do it.. i had to tell them for mine.. but yea, after it was done the fans did kick on alot more but the car never got to the point that it was to hot that it couldnt be cooled down... thermostat alone without the fans being programmed helps very little

regarding the hood, customizing the stock (cutting + painting) would be cheaper than getting a CF one.
CF hood would cost me about $1200+, while modifying the stock one won't cost more than $600
once i'm done with my FI setup, i'll buy a CF to complement the look/power.
thanks for the heads up.. i'll make sure my tuner knows about the thermo.

and if you put in the discount code on the site at checkout it takes off 16%
oem cf hood is $400, pretty much all the other cf hoods are $540.
I don't see why you'd spend $600 cutting up the stock hood.

i'm really better off customizing it for now. saving and ordering one later.
thanks for the ref. tho.
^checked with one bodyshop and they quoted me around $600..
but i'm backing out on this. because of 2 things.
1- won't pass inspection.
2- if i decided to go back to stock and sell it.
so, i'm saving for a TS style hood.

you have seen the light.. i didn't want to say too much but was hoping you would not do it.
would be like setting your money on fire.. to roast a marshmallow
in all honesty... finding a good deal on a fiberglass hood would prolly be best bang for buck for ya
