Windshield Tinting?
Any have any pics of a Z with a windshield tint? (whole thing tinted, not a strip)
I'm going to get mine done before I move down to Florida. I'm debating whether to do 50% or 35%.
Any experience/insight?

I'm not concerned with visibility.
I'm more concerned with getting pulled over/tickets. I have a black on black Z with black rims and 5% tint all around. So it's already dark as ****. I feel like 35% might REALLY stand out on my front windshield.
I do get pulled over in NJ for my tints. scmtkings4 you might know how gay NY/NJ cops are with tints. The only thing keeping me from getting ticketted is my two gold cards (family cops).
But I'm worried my gold cards won't be of much use in Florida. And it would suck to get a ticket + end up taking it off.
I feel like I'll end up going 50% or 45%. Even though 35% would be ****in badass.
omsin523, ever get trouble with Florida cops for your tint? I'm moving to florida

With 35%, you have 35% of available light coming through the windshield; with 50%, you have half the available light coming in. That's basic physics that can't be denied regardless of what others say about there being no issue "whatsoever". Only an inconsiderate fool would go either of those routes. Harsh words I know, VERY harsh. But if you run into an obstacle at night because you couldn't see 65% of what you could have seen without a tinted windshield, your life will be harsh as hell anyway. If that obstacle happens to be a human being, your life will be over with theirs (life in jail ain't no life), so harsh words are the least I can use to discourage you.

45% on mine (and love it), definitely glad I didn't go with 35%, and I only have 15% on sides and back.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel that it is safe to say that most of the people that are saying no have not been in a Z with the windshield tinted; but I still understand the point they are making. I had 5% on the sides and back of my old car and I can tell you that it was 100x harder to see at night in that car versus my current set-up.

I assume you have worn sunglasses when you have driven before? If so, a standard pair of sunglasses would be equivalent of about 20% tint if not lower. Never seen a pair of sunglasses to this day that are as light as my 50% windshield tint. IMO 50% is just enough to warrant spending the money on it and shouldn't get you in any trouble with the cops.

I'm amazed at your tint knowledge. 50% tint doesn't mean you can only see 50% of what you normally could. If that were the case no one could drive around with tint below 80% without wrecking. I am always amazed when people voice opinions with no experience in what they are talking about.

If you were to invent a tint film that could be applied to and removed from the windshield as quickly as sunglasses to a face or visor from a helmet, I would be all for it. Heck, Lexus and Mercedes already have this technology available for their cars with glass roofs and it is being used on windshields as well. An optical sensor keep them from being activated at night.
If you don't think 35% tint means that 35% of available light is being filtered through, please point me to some proof. I could stand to learn a thing or two.
