Factory shifter help
04 Z. I wanted to replace my shift **** with the factory one cause the one on there was worn out. Well i have read up on the forums about holding the shaft with vise grips and turning the **** off. But I tried unscrewing the **** myself and it was stuck, I heard a small pop and I thought I f***ed something up. Long story short, the new **** is now on there. Ever since then, the shifter feels loose, and is sometimes harder to shift into gear then before. My question is, is there a way to tighten the shifter where it meets the tranny so that it is how it was before? I hope I didn't do any damage. All these threads explain how to install and remove the ****, but I didn't find what to do if the shifter is popped and now feels funky.

What type of **** did you put on? The stock **** is tall and heavy so if you replaced it with something lighter/shorter you will feel a lot more of the gear shifting "first hand."
Sorry man when I look at the diagrams, there doesn't seems to be anything that would "pop". I would suggest pulling it apart angain and inspecting the pieces one by one. Also check the lower fulcrum bolt, maybe there is a plastic sleeve/bushing that broke there.

Yeah the whole assembly was tight as I was turning it. I heard a little noise, then the whole shifter was able to turn back and forth a bit. After installing the new (factory) ****, sometimes it's hard to get it in gear, and the shifter wiggles more when I'm driving.
