What is the best way to separate the rear tails?
The fronts are easy but the rears seem stubborn..

Thank you...everyone loves two put there in, that's what a forum is for though. plus non of you actually know me so in your minds I could just be some *%#@bag who knows nothing about lights at all and just tried to throw something together with no prier research or knowledge of headlight design, I understand that. Even though this is my first headlight build, I assure you I have put time and research into building these headlights and do know there is allot more that goes into it than just throwing some lights in a case and strapping them to the front of my car...lol... My L.E.D. strives to bring the most cutting edge led lighting products available for the 350z and will do whatever it takes to reach that goal. I may not be a headlight expert yet, I agree but I am still learning and can hopefully take this design to fully working status here soon.

We make precision cuts to the taillights to get them open in a way that they can be sealed back together with no chance of moisture getting in. I have had a member on here say they opened a set of tails with a heat gun but it is very tricky and you can mess up the lens very easily if you do not keep it moving at all times. I have not seen any pics of this members tail lights so I am not sure how they turned out yet. Be aware cutting them open is not an easy task and I would not encourage you to try this on a set of tails you care anything about. Also the OEM tails are different from after market as in how all the pieces on the inside are put together. After market tails come apart in 3 pieces. OEM tails come apart in two pieces and have less clearance behind the upper reflectors. That is why we use after market tails at My L.E.D. the quality in craftsmanship of the case and lens are comparable to that of the more expensive OEM tails. We swap all of the leds out in the after market tails anyways so all we really use the after market tails for is there case and internals to mount our custom array of leds in.

My L.E.D. has some new tail light designs coming out shortly as well. These will blow the old designs away. All the leds in the tail lights are going to be replaced with the 10mm red leds for braking and running lights. There will be 10mm super bright white reverse lights built in as well as the option to have chaser turn signals or sequential turn signals add into the tail light housing. If you liked the old design you are going to love the new I can assure you that.

I have been working on these for about a month or two now. I have to get tail light orders out in between research and development of new product so some times it takes a while to release new ideas. I ended up having a little time on my hands this past week so I was able to get them molded in and painted in about two days. Once all the bugs have been worked out and I can start producing these for customers it shouldn't take much longer than CinCity or Clearcorners takes to fully modify a set of OEM headlights. I figure If I am not too swamped it would be about a 3-6 week turn around time. Since we build everything from new parts the customer is not waiting to get headlights back in there car so they can drive it.

Just the turn signal mod would be tempting.

I can appreciate the work but this is not very attractive at all.

You should have integrated a circular modification IMO (like this):

^ Those are from Q45s, no? There's at least 2 people with retrofitted headlights (I don't know if the above car makes it 3 or not), it looks like. I always liked those.

OP, I really like the uniqueness of your headlights. I agree with the above concerns regarding proper cut off, but design and creativity-wise, your project takes the cake (just as cool as the Q45 retrofitting).

That's my only concern, like i said, great execution and design but R&D for headlights is much more involved then simply throwing an untested method into a headlights.

Retrofit from a new Prius. Factory LED headlamps. No fancy designs but 99% less R&D.
