Default did my arm rest in suede!!

Well, my 03 z now has about 90,000 miles running strong. I only had one issue and that is my arm rest on the door cracked really bad. So, i figured that this would be a perfect time to try out my upholstery skills. I bought some black microfiber suede from hancock fabrics and used super 77 3m glue. I must point out that this i am very happy with the super 77 upholstery glue, lots of holding strength.

It took me awhile to finish up both doors because i wanted perfection and that is what i got once i was done. For both doors it took me about close to two hours to get them exactly perfect. So here are are some pics...ill also post some additional pics of for ppl that have never seen my car before.

Thanks fellas. I'm also interested in doing my headliner and A-pillars. Was the headliner hard to do. I know the A-pillars is pretty to the point. The hardest part of the arm rest is getting the very end where it curves straight other than that pretty simple.

I bought the materials at hancock fabric store. The suede only cost me like $9 dollars for all of the material because they were having a sale.

That sucks. The arm rest looks better than they did with the original wrap. The suede looks even better in person than in pics because you can't see the texture. Try it out just be sure to give yourself some time it takes longer than you would think to get it perfect.

Anything special you need to take the door panels apart?

you don't have to take anything off of the doors. just pull on the arm rest and it will come out...just don't pull to hard and break the tabs off.

Does look very nice, I always wanted to do this to the armrests, headliner, and the shift boot, all in black suede. Just wish I had more confidence in myself to do it.

I'm not sure if i would tackle the shift boot since i can't sew worth ****, lol. Give it a try i bet you are better than you think at it. I would say patience is the key to getting things perfect in these types of projects. When you start rushing thinking the glue is going to dry before you get to apply both ends that is when things start messing up. If it dries a little just respray that part again until everything is smooth.

Yeah...that glue holds very strong and doesn't soak through the material.
