custom black housing (day time pics)
thanks for all the compliment guys!
to be honest, it is a VERY time consuming mod, if u want to do the headlights by yourself, my advice is BE EXTREMLY CAREFUL coz it wont be cheap for a new pair.
it seems people are pretty interested in the black housnig
hm....trying to do some business here....
if u are able to take off your headlights, and want the do the conversion, heres the deal!
i m gonna set the price at $350 including shipping
how's that sound?
if ten or more people are in, i can do it for $250 each.
any question PM me
steve

You realize this is the only thing you will be doing in your free time for the next year or so. Because of the reletively low price ::ahem.clearcorners.ahem:: a lot of people are going to contact you I imagine.
blue batmobile: i'll post pic with the light on later, u cant really tell the difference actually
i painted my housing with flat black spray paint, anyone want to try some other color? maybe dark grey...?

I did the same thing a couple months ago, but the heat gun is the hard way.
preheat you oven to 200 degrees and set the head light on some wet cardboard, or aluminum foil for 7-10 minuates. after that take it out, helps 2 have 2 people. Make sure you take all the screws out first. Once you take it out, start pulling on the top corner. it will come loose, once it does its easy to pull apart.
The paint Iused a self etching primer first, then followed by flat black paint.
once it dried I put it all back togeather, stuck it back in the oven to heat the silicone up, and pushed it all back togeather. I then ran new silicone around the head light to be safe, but you dont have too.
Its not terribly hard, but its does take some time.

So let me get this straight, You would spend $450 for an LED cluster, LED Strip, and a clear strip of plastic? Can I get this in writing cause I would like to sell you some. Jesus man its not like Clearcorners invented this. They do the same thing this guy did but with the addition of LEDS and clear lenses. And last time I checked $350 is indeed a hell of a lot cheaper than $800. 56% cheaper infact.

That was a great job you did android 123.......took a lot of cajones to test the waters on an expensive part of your car. I myself would be afraid to do it.
As far as the pricing you quoted goes, I don't think it is high at all considering the liability that goes along with dismantling peoples headlights. Just one or two mistakes and your profit will sink like a stone. Make sure that people send their lights to you insured. If one is damaged in shipment due to poor packaging etc., some people will say that you damaged it and are trying to blame it on the packaging. There are a million things to watch out for.....but you probably already know that. You just never know what people will do if their expectations are not met.
I am not trying to disuade you from going into business, but you have to cover all the bases up front so the experience does not become overly discouraging.
Good luck in your venture! Hope you please a lot of customers and make some money while you are at it.

Great job Android. These would look primo on my super black.
Just to be clear on the light quality - you see no difference in the projected light at night at low or high beams? It would seem that you might get some reduction due to the reduced secondary reflections off the housing? Or maybe the reflections are only minimal to begin with?
BTW your price target seems reasonable with shipping, handling, insurance, etc. Also Wedge makes a great point about the occasional damaged unit that will cut into your margins. Good luck.

Android123,,,I think ur price is pretty fair 250. Considering the time and paint job it takes...its almost same price as window tinting but more effort.
I just wished I you guys were in MD.
