SuperbrightLEDS - not to be used in headlamps?
I ordered a set of wedge bulb type LED's from superbrightLEDS.com (http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...LED-WHP9-T.htm) based on another member here saying he had ordered them too. When I received them I realized 1) they were the wrong color (my mistake), and 2) the bulb packaging had a big warning sticker saying something like "Do not use LED bulbs in headlamp assemblies. Heat will cause LED failure and void warranty"
Now I believe that HID lamps burn much cooler than halogen for a given wattage (correct me if I'm wrong), but I don't really know what the thermal limit is on these type of LED bulbs. Does anyone here have experience running these LED bulbs in their 350z headlight housings (specifically 2006+ headlights) and if so, how long have you had them and how are they holding up?
I've had LED bulbs like this before on my previous car, but I was running halogen lamps and I had a bumch of them burn out on me. It's a lot harder to replace the bulbs on the Z, so I want to make sure I get something that lasts.
Thanks in advance for any input / reviews.

They may burn cooler but its really apples to oranges. HIDs are a repeatedly ignited spark, just like a spark plug. Incandescents are static, both require about the same voltage and amerage to run, but the HID uses a step up voltage transformer for a hihger voltage, lesser amperage spark.
Bottom line is that all LEDS are created differently.
Thats youre number one issue... moresoe than any other issue.
Ive had iJDMtoy and motoring max ebay blubs.. dead within a few weeks.
v-leds.com? None such problems.
If you need to reorder,, get them there. Also if you want WHITE not blueish, make sure to get 5K, and NOT 6k colors. its the cool lexus color you REALLY wanted ayways.

and btw, if youre just swapping out the OEM parking light LEd.. thats pretty far away from anything... it should be totally fine..
where they will have an issue is INSIDE the projector.. see my pics in my garage/gallery.
I used HALOs.. CCFL tubes. Some ppl use LEDS.. and THAT thing gets hot.. no doubt about it.
I think youre concerned w a warning intended to sway ppl away form doing that mod on thier own w the product you have in your hand.

On my '08, I've got LED's from superbrightleds.com in both the front parking and signal light sockets. No issues since sometime in January when I installed them. I don't remember the exact ones I used, but the parking lights are natural white with 9 SMD LED's, and the signals are amber with 18 SMD LED's (also in the rear signals and backups). To get the signals to flash properly, I used 50 watt/6 ohm resistors.
Thanks for the input guys.
@bmccann: Yep, I accidentally ordered 'cool white' (probably upwards of 7000k) when I should have gotten 'natural white'. How long have you been running the V-led bulbs without issue?
@dcains: After reading your posts about the superbrightled's in the front reflector led thread I did an impulse buy and got my set, and of course in all my ferver I selected the wrong color, even after you clearly stated not to get the 'cool white' haha. derp I'm a dummy

Maybe use them for the license plate lights, or use one in the trunk?
