350Z Xenon headlamps.
Another stupid question again. But I have no clue. Why are the 350Z Xenon headlamps white, and the new Maxima xenons a bright blue? Whats the difference, and whats better? Thanks for any and all help.........Steve

Basically it is a difference in the kelvin rating. Factory z lights are like 4300k, which is close to yellowish-white on the science scale of light.
As you go higher, the light becomes more blue and then purple. As the color changes, so do the lumens, which is the effective brightness of the lights. The lumens decrease as the kelvins go up.
For instance, I'm trying to get rid of the factory lights, so that I can put in bluer 6000k bulbs. This will provide better looks, but lower output.
Hope it helps, sorry for long response.

That was a very informative answer and a very good question. but is that change as simple as changing the bulbs. and if so what bulb should I get for the most blueish effect. My 05 z roadster has a blue effect now but not like the maxima.

sorry, but the maxima uses the same 4300k bulbs as our car. the maxima has a more blue color because of the projector. I think the name of the projector is a valeo. the valeo is one of the most colorful projectors out there. thats why most bmw's have nice color to them is because of the projector. Im pretty sure all nissan/ infinity use 4300k bulbs anyways...

I've ran Phillips Ultinon 6000k D2S (German Spec) for over 2 yrs. And they are "MUCH" nicer than stock and clearly different.

I bought them from premiertek.net
6000k "blue-white" 3500 lumens, so pretty damn bright. I am very pleased with them..will be posting pics later in the week.
The lights were real easy to change--sounds weird but the car seems more expensive at night haha.

I think the stock HID on the Z are bright enough. First time I saw one behind me at night, thought it was a Porshe. Ive got a good question. How long does HID last? Compare to halogen lamps?
