Default Miles till empty gauge

I just bought an 03 Touring and I was resetting my gauges this morning (miles till mty, avg mpg, etc). The problem is that I can reset all of the gauges in that cluster EXCEPT the miles till mty one. It is still showing the countdown from before I filled up yesterday. I reset my trip odometer when I filled up (as I always do) but at the time did not know about the resetting of the miles till mty gauge. I tried doing the reset per the manual (holding down the bottom buttom there for more than 1 sec) but it does not reset. Does that gauge reset when I reset the trip odometer??

I am excited about having this feature again on a car but I want to make sure it is accurate too.

There's no reset for it. It is calculated by the computer based on the estimate of how much fuel is in the tank and your average MPG.

Correct, when you fill the tank, the DTE will read an amount based on full tank and current Avg MPG (usually 350 miles or more). I've actually driven the Z on a road trip and seen the DTE increase over time. Higher Avg MPG on the highway means that you can go farther on what's left in the tank.

If you've filled up the tank and the DTE has not changed that would be a problem.

That was what I understood your question to be, correct? It should recalculate once you add gas.

I wish Nissan would have some sort of guage that could give you a rough estimation +/- 10 miles that would show how far you could drive with the gas in your tank. Damn Nissan engineers, I have an enthusiast model.

Thanks DavesZ#3 and Waizzz. I had a Durango in 01 that had the same features but you had to reset it each time you filled up. I assumed that is what I needed to do with this one. I am still working on the same tank so probably this weekend when I fill up I'll watch to see if it resets.
