if the hood is hitting it then yes. the dip in the carbon fiber hood is probably hitting it.

Also you could try messing with where it mounts to the hinges. ie moving the hood forward or back some or putting some spacers there.

Hey man,
It's tough to say without being there. What you could do to check if your strut bar is hitting is put some dabs of axel grease on the bar at the points you think it may hit the hood. Put the hood down, then when you raise it back up, if there's grease stuck on the hood, you know it has made contact.

If it isn't touching the strut bar, check the alignment of the latch, and look around for other points that may be making contact and use the grease method again.

I love that hood! Some people drive without their strutt tower bar. you should be okay as long as you're not taking corners hard. I bought a greddy strutt towerbar from a guy who had this hood+5/16 motorydyne plenum spacer. What he did was grind the back of the strutt tower bar to sit closer to the plenum. My assumption would be that it helped him close his hood.

that could work. Whenever i first got my strut tower bar, i know it had a black etching from the hood that was on it, It was a bish trying to buff out. Is the vent functional for that hood, or is it clearly for looks?

I recommend using clay instead of axle grease for checking clearances.

Just take off your strut bar if it is the issue and put the hood on. Look for an aftermarket strut bar in the meantime. Driving without a strut bar will not hurt anything.

what year is your car.. some hoods dont fit HR engines period. You may find its not just your strut bar.. if your oem hood has the buldge ( gross haha) you'll want to call VIS and see if you have a hood that even fits an 07-up.

sorry, i just saw yours says 2003..

its just your strut bar, and stillen as well as a few others make a new bar that goes on front of the engine instead of directly over it. .

My Veilside cost a grip and fits like crap, dont feel too bad.
