AC Button Question
Ok this is the stupidest post you will ever read but its something small and annoying. So in a 350Z WHENEVER you turn on the heat/ac the little ac lamp comes on and something under the hood (a pump?) turns on, and its pretty lout in my car when it turns on...the thing is most times i just want AIR and no AC, is there a way to disable it so it does not come on automatically, basically i want to be able to press it my self if i want AC...sorry for wasting the last 30 seconds of your life.
Thanks in advance.

The a/c compressor shouldn't be all that loud, but I guess we may all have different definitions for loud. If it really seems louder than on other cars, I'd have someone take a look at it. If a compressor fails and fills the system with shrapnel, repairs get very expensive.

The AC in my '08 doesn't come on automatically unless I use the auto setting or the defroster. In the other modes, I can turn it on/off by pressing the button in the center of the control on the right.
The AC compressor itself shouldn't make much noise, but the radiator cooling fans come on whenever the AC is running, and they can be heard inside the car.

Whenever you turn the fan off and turn it back on, it goes through the "auto" mode which turns the A/C on. I overcome this problem by leaving the fan on the lowest setting all the time so when I need to use heat, the A/C does automatically turn on.
