Headlights Bubbling?
So what's the story with this phenomenon? I want to have my 06+ headlights blacked out but caesar from lightwerkz advised me to not have the section under the projector painted as there is a chance the paint will bubble up from the heat? with a search I only found like 2 threads regarding this, so does that mean i barely ever happens? How about the guys that did it themselves, are yours bubbling??
he mentioned the same thing to me. Mine are in fact painted, and done by him. Mine are in his gallery, and the reflector is painted light silver.. i can imagine the flat black color absorbing far more heat and causing issues in the summer. I initially wanted him to leave that part chrome. Guess the masking tape peeled the chrome off tho, so we painted them silver to match.
If a paint is used that can't handle high temp, then it can bubble. When I did mine I used a high temp flat black and have not had any issues. Not to say that it won't ever happen, but they have been running fine for a year.
Some people drive their cars with headlamps on at all times (i'm one of them, safety reasons). So driving with them on on a warm summer day I can see a lot of heat being created.
I agree i dont think its to common of a problem.
Seing how there is not that many topics about it.
Plus i think its the color combination and if the end user drives with lights on during day and evening hours.
