Default rear strut bar delete?

anyone ever did it? wonder if you could cut it out and put the 370z covers on it. i find the bar gets in the way and limits some extra space.

Easy solution. Cut the bar and toss it in the trash. Done.

I'll be cutting mine out shortly, then replacing it with a 1.75 or 2 inch single bar. That should be stronger and give me more room.

Moved it forward a foot, better reinforcement elsewhere in the chassis. Could be a lot of factors.

so the silver bar at on the back wall is the strut bar? i just thought that was cosmetic. figured theyd mount the strut bar on top of the strut tower.

Possibly reinforce the strut towers? Not sure.

Lol, get the correct blade for a sawsall and i highly doubt you would have to replace the blade more than twice IF that...

Regardless, removing a structural part of the chassis like this would make me worry about a lot more than how many blades i needed to buy

Maybe if you were caged up it would be "ok" to remove the strut bar, but then again that would completely be counter productive in why you want to remove it in the first place...

My advice, if you want more trunk space, is to trade your car in for something with more trunk area

lol ok so its probably a no go on this. i have thought about the fact it added structure. im very aware how all the structure works(i work in a body shop) just wasnt sure if it mattered that much. guess i wont go through with it

I mean i might be completely wrong, but i wouldnt go around cutting part of the chassis if you werent replacing it with some other sort of reinforcement. And if you WERE, i would advise doing plenty of research on the Z's chassis first lol

Muzzy's mod probably has about 10% of the chassis stiffening effect compared to the original.
