i know about polishing and repairing and polishing wheels. i know you can strip the clear off a factory coated polish wheel and polish. but i have never heard of stripping paint off a wheel and polishing. my biggest concern is the material under it? i dont know if its polishable or not. heres another member that did it but he has different wheels and they're rays so i dunno.i thought those wheels came painted but in his repair pics looks like the wheels were just polished with clear coat from the factory?

I painted my stock 07 wheels and I can tell you from experience there is a lot of layers of s#!t on theses wheels to strip. You're going to have to take them down to bare aluminum, a lot of work. Make sure they're perfectly smooth. Polish them and definitely clear coat them. This all might be more work then it's worth in the end. The hyper silver factory paint looks good.

Maybe he is saving for nicer wheels, but he wants these to look good in the mean time...

OP, yes you can polish them, the first step would be to remove the paint.... You can have them bead blasted or you can use Aircraft aluminum stripper... The stripper would take several coats and a lot more sanding to achieve a smooth finish...

If you do decide to tackle this project, you better have a lot of time on your hands or have another set of wheels to drive on while you do it...

PM me if you have any questions on how the process goes...

please do this and post pics of your results, step by step. I too saw the polished wheels on the white z and asked the same thing a few months back. Got no responses so decided not to tackle the project.

Bagged I also know that there is a powder coat that looks like polished aluminum. Ive never seen it in person but something you could check out.

thank you sir. and yes you are correct. i personally like these wheels. if i ever get some spacers i think itll be a clean look. but i will definately eventually get wheels. i know it will take some time. if i could just find one spare wheel and tire i could do them one at a time. ive repaired a set of polished wheels before and i work in a body shop so im familiar with sanding ****. i personally like polished better then chrome and dont think theyre even relatively close to the same. polished is a cleaner shine imo

i got an idea of how to do it but it will be very time consuming. just in repairing polishing and painting some small sections on my old billet 22" wheels i had about 10hrs a wheel.

Mine is an '05 and I bought it used so I'm not 100% sure of the story behind the wheels, but they definitely look like they are the factory wheels that have been polished. Take a look:
