Default Black Leather Peeling around Perforations

Hey guys,

I was just about to detail my interior when I noticed that my leather is peeling around some of the perforations on my drivers seat. My car is an 06 350Z Grand Touring with 39,000 Miles. It looks like the black leather in the Z is died orange and then coated black. I pulled back carefully from the inside of the perforation and to my surprise the black coating peels very easily exposing the orange leather. My leather is completely stock. Has anyone ever had this problem? is it worth going to the Dealership over?

Sounds like someone dyed burnt orange leather to black. Are you the only owner of the car?

No, I am sure the leather is completely stock. The stitching on the seats is orange and the inside of the perforations are also Orange. I believe this is how the leather is from the factory...I am not the first Owner. I bought the car with 16k miles on it from Nissan.

I have a 06 touring myself and I have one tiny spot by the stitching on my driver seat in which I can see a faint hint of orange where it looks like the black has fade or rubbed off. IMO I think your issue is normal and part of wear over the years, unfortunately the z's don’t have the highest of quality interior parts.

A few weeks ago I used the Leatherique rejuvenating oil and cleaner...do you think that this may have loosened the bonding of the black coating? I know that some of the small marks have been there for a while but I am worried that maybe the oil has saturated the leather and is loosening the bond of the black coating?

12 posts and you're pimping car parts from China?

My black leather interior has orange stitching. There was one worn spot on an edge (re-blackened with permanent ,marker) and I didn't see any orange.
