Default 12v door in dash

This thing wont stay closed. It is the cigarette lighter port that is under the dash in front of the passenger seat. The poor fella has no resistance at all and just flops down when you let go of it.

Anyone know where to buy a new one or perhaps how to fix it?

I don't see any spring or resistance system incorporated into mine (2007). Can someone maybe take a look at theirs and see how this thing is supposed to work?

If you don't use it, I'd say throw alittle clear RTV silicone on it and glue it shut. The silicone can easily be removed and doesn't stain, if you decide to reopen it one day...

I use this power port all the time. The access door is held closed by a little floating hairpin style spring. When you pull the door open the spring over-centers and then holds the door open. If you peek under the dash you can see this spring in action; maybe yours has come unhooked somehow.

Yea, there definitely isn't a spring there. Just a few rubber fasteners. Something tells me that spring is going to be a pain to find/buy lol. Hopefully a junk yard near me has a Z.

Anyone know if the 03-05 has the same door?
