Default Quick Disconnect Steering Set up

Ok my steering wheel is starting to show it's age and it's time for an upgrade. So I picked up the following:

Personal Grinta 350mm w/Silver logo
Short Hub adapter
Works Bell Rapfix II (Black)
Works Bell Rapfix II Lock (Silver)

Now I have a question for the guys that have the Rapfix(or any QD for that matter) system... when your out and about, do you actually take the steering wheel with you or do you leave it in the trunk? Do you engage your steering column lock before you take off the wheel? I know this is a retarded thread but I'm curious... I've seen people walk around with steering wheels before and never really thought it was weird or unnecessary.

There's one guy in my club who has the QD system. I've never seen him walk around with it. Then again, we don't live in Miami....

I have thought about doing this as a theft deterrent.

I'm bought the QD for that reason... the steering wheel needed to be updated so I figured I'd do the whole set up that way.

LOL Toooouche' my friend... touche'. I drive my car often but very very rarely to a mall or movie theatre, I like keeping it in eye's distance.

Ricer kids carry it with them as a status symbol, racers take the steering wheel on and off to make it easier to get in a car with door bars and fixed seats. What are you?

Not everything in this world is race related... not even my carbon fiber roof cap that you love so very much.

I take my Vertex wheel off and put it in the passenger seat. Makes it a lot easier to get in and out too, the side bolsters on my Bride's are ridiculous.

I'm looking at doing the seats later (Sparco Milano's or Recaro CS's) which aren't bad with the sides and though I'm a little heavy... I'm nimble... I can get in and out of the car without struggling. I don't think I'd want to walk around with a steering wheel. I just look the guys who do indifferently... doesn't bother me nor excite me, I just don't care.

Putting it in the trunk just seems inconvenient.

take it off and take with me if i'm parked in a sketchy area... but typically its just off in the passenger seat since i have a fixed race bucket seat. ingress/egress is much easier...

if i had a steering wheel with the flat bottom, then i'd probably leave it in there..

I just ordered a nrg short hub, NRG QD and a momo steering wheel. Im not a racer, nor do I claim to be. I just wanted a quick disconnect as an added percaution, plus it was a good way for me to personalize my ride. I have an alarm aswell

If I leave town for a few days, I'll remove my steering wheel and lock it up in the house. I live in a small town where I dont have to worry about theft, but I just do leave her anywhere for a few hours.

As for carrying and flaunting it around like lil bow wow, uh no thanks...

Out of sight.. out of mind. I think if I put it on the seat, someone would smash my window for it.

No not at all but we got a bunch of "thugs" that do that crap... I live in a nicer area in Miami but the thieves don't steal from each other... they have nothing to steal. Thats why thieves go to nice places b/c theirs nice things to steal.

The other thing, i wouldn't remove the airbag either on a daily driver, weekend cruiser probably, but not a daily use car.

just leave it on the pass floor board.

unless you're downtown, mid-town, opa-locka, dadeland mall, dolphin mall,
or some other high theft location.
