My 08 Touring to Nismo v3 Transformation
Ya I hear you. It's funny cause I was the opposite... I really liked the idea of having the factory V3 kit. Not having to deal with body shops/paint and installation. I didn't really know at the time that I would be replacing everything on the car though!
All my friends asked why I purchased a Nismo. I liked the idea of having a limited edition car in the US. I really wanted the GTR but I was impatient. I needed instant gratification to help me through a difficult time in my life. Sad part is, I had the money for a GTR.
I didn't really get a deal either. Not for a Mid November sale in NY. I paid 37.5K + tax and tags.

Lakeside, it's all good man. I don't care that I am faster than you. Who gives a fawk. ITOzann...you stupid noob...lol. At the time I was buying my Touring there was a nice black nismo but they wanted 42K for it plus taxes. I tried to talk them down and they no. So I said...Yeah, I don't like the bodykit anyways and if I am going to be replacing all the stuff on it why even bother. So that's why I got the touring. If I could go back in time I would have waiting and got the nismo because I had a change of heart on the kit.
fuuuuuck 42k....i got mine on NYE of last year 08 20k for 23,5000....waited 6 damn months for this old guy to die (terrible i know but im a man of opportunity)
Lakeside...I get it but that's just stupid. Whoooptiiee do. "NISMO" Who gives a fawk. I bought the touring edition because I knew I was going to replace everything on the car so why spend the extra money for all the "NISMO" stuff. Call it whatever you want but it's still a factory oem nismo v3 bodykit at the end of the day.

i see nothing wrong with sporting a nismo kit if you like the look... heck MCR's Z33 isn't a "real" nismo model.

I'm not hating, I'd probably do it myself if I didn't buy a Nismo in the first place. My only gripe is, if the intention of the person doing the "conversion" is to go around proclaiming it's a Nismo edition.

Still waiting on some parts for the side skirts and wing bolts.

Do they sell the mesh piece for the bumper or does a shop have to fabricate one. Cut material to the dimensions and install? I always see these rear bumpers installed missing the mesh.
I have everything. Black mesh that goes in the rear. He just didn't put it on yet...no reason to. Also that silver crash bar will be painted black as well.
You call it a 350Z with a Nismo V3 Kit....it is in no way, shape, or form a Nismo Edition...i feel as if we talked about this once before...
So people are upset because you put a Nismo bodykit on your car...well why would anyone spend an extra 10-15k for a Nismo edition if they had the intention of replacing most of the crap that comes with it?
Goose how dare you blasphemize the Nismo name with a better performing built car. Crucify him!

Alex @ Performance motorsports did the same thing with his '03 Z. Anyone with any experience/knowledge can tell the difference. I relate it to the classic car scene.
For me it's like Chevelle's.. I luv Chevelle's! Owner's try to pass off their car's as being an SS all the time. Sure it irritates the crap out of me and creates a lot of skeptics. I do believe it hurts the car industry when people try to pass a car off as something it's not. I see it all the time at car shows.
Someday I would like to buy a '67-68 SS 396 ragtop Chevelle. I'll just be sure to do my homework and take my time to make sure I am buying an authentic car. It's the only thing a responsible buyer can do to protect themselves.

Just curious..how does this even hurt the car industry LOL...you guys are making it sound like he's trying to pass off a G35 as a ferrari, and are reading way too much into the thread title, I think Goose knows his car is better than a nismo in it's current state anyway so what would he gain by passing it off as something it's not.

This is just like telling someone with a base model that they cannot get Brembo's or an LSD or a GPS because only the other models are supposed to have it. It's still a 350Z just different trim...i guess paying 10-15k for minor performance enhancements leave some people grasping at straws for something to keep it exclusive.
You guys have the certificate badges right?
