Thumbs up ///350z 06+ bixenon headlights question???

Just a quick question... Will I loose light output if I decide to black paint a brand new set of 350z biXenon headlights? Or should I just leave them like that? My vision is not that perfect at night that is why Im asking. Your help is appreciated. Thanks

you might notice less scattered light upwards, but real projectors do not depend on reflectors

Just don't paint the projector lens, you'll be fine... Many have done this if you look around.

Won't matter since they are projector-type headlights.

All blacked out still provide more than enough light output. Well, that was my case

After reading a lot of stories here at the forum from people who opened up their headlights to paint them or do some other repair inside and then later getting condensation inside them would make me very leery of opening them up unless I absolutely had to. You know how expensive the 2006+ headlights are to replace.

I said don't paint the PROJECTOR LENS, said nothing about the assembly lens. lol...

Guys, on the 06's it wont affect light output at all, all the light comes from inside the projector, has nothing to do with everything around it. As for taking them apart, just make sure you seal them back up well, if you have to, get some silicone weather sealant at Home Depot or something, that will work just fine if you seal all the areas that were separated. The oven trick works great, I think 250F for 10-15 minutes works well for most people. Blokes have been doing retrofits for years and years, go check out www.hidplanet.com and you'll see plenty of experienced retrofitters who know what to do.
