but its just as illegal. i got a ticket on my truck for plates not being 'flat'. some angle is allowed but no wear near that much. and your plate cant be way deep in the grill opening either. it cant have a shadow or something crazy.
you could do the james bond mod. and get an electronic bracket that folds the plate up, and with the press of a botton it folds down.

Yeah, I've seen it in person and it's pretty simple!

You think i would be able to do this by just getting 2 "L" brackets, heating them up and bending them to less than a 45 degree angle? Otherwise, i am interested in where to get that bracket. You said just at an autoparts store like advanced?
Any parts store should have something similar.

Although, I would try not to do the L brackets so that if something hits the plate it wouldn't rip it off over time. You should try to do something that's adjustable so that it can take the abuse by gently moving back if hit with an object on the road.

Yesterday a group of us went on a 160 mile canyon run through some local mountains and 3 people got pulled over for no front plate

Do you mean in the gap but off to one side?

i'm saying to mount it on the side by the reflector where the lip starts to flatten out.

True to a point... You really need to do something bad for a cop to ticket you solely for that. At least theirs theirs something there.

That hideaway plate is not worth the $180 that it normally runs..

You said it usually goes for $180? Does that mean this isn't good quality or something?

noooo i'm not saying drill into the bumper. i'm totally against that. what i'm saying is to buy a motorized bracket like the one you found from yates performance and mount that on the side underneath the lip.

The guy that has the plate mounted FROM THE TOP,slanted BACK sure does not think much about design. The idea is good as I mentioned in a earlier post.
But do it on the BOTTOM,plate facing BACK--SAME BASIC ANGLE.

If you mount it on the bottom it would fall over way too easily..

I've done it before...WILL NOT fall over. The bracket is bent to look like the "L"
In Lexus. As I previously posted, you can fabricate an acrylic bracket is you want. Can attached with 3-M tape.Or use a standard L bracket &drill into the lip.The bracket should come up to near the top of the plate(in the back) for good support.Since this guy has a CF lip,I'd use a CF Plate frame to blend in
with the lip.Titek makes a good one.
I think the motorized plate deal is dope. Also, mounting the plate on the side
also looks lame.
Major objective is to not have the plate be too noticeable.
I like the front bumper on this Z.However, its very agressive---needs some other body components to balance it..skirts,rear bumper etc.

I would be worried about it being scraped off b/c i have very little clearance as it is

I think i will get the retractable bracket and stick with mounting it to one side of the opening in the bumper on the top so it has some stability

Bumper looks good. All it needs now are some rims, 06+ headlights and tail lights.

It's a shame that you're a Husker fan.

Until I die. You forget already I go to Iowa? It needs rims more than side skirts right now.
