The easiest way is to remove the bumper and I believe a screwdriver will do the trick.

You should know that it won't remove the entire slot, only the top portion of each. You will need to cutout the section entirely if you want the slots gone.

I would remove the bumper cover, and see how the grill is integrated into the bumper. I know. Call me crazy.

If you want an exact answer, PM Mike (finalforce). I remember he did that to his front, and you know how he is with his car, do it right or don't do it at all.

Believe albinobob is correct. The bumper cover and grill are one piece for structural integrity. One piece manufacturing adds strength and limits flexing.

Yup, take the bumper off. They are screwed on individually.

EDIT: Are you talking about the grey pieces that attach to the grill or the entire grill slots?

There is a easy way and a harder way.
The easy way, although may take some refinishing,it to cut of the grille "blades" with
a multi-tool or,Dremel. The blades are made of a plastic, should be easy to cut at the ends. You would have to grind down the end,and/or cut off the screws that attach
the blades. You could use Dupli Color trim paint to refurb the grille cowl.
The harder way would be to reove the entire bumper and take off the blades by removing the screws.

It's a simple task to remove the front bumper and do the job right:
