Default Clear paint protector

This may be a very stupid noob like question but i tried searching everywhere and got nothing.. you know that clear square thing right in front of the rear wheels on the side of the car? well mine have a hideous layer of dirt all around them so i wanna take em off or replace them.. im afraid to just take them off assuming they protect that area for a good reason? do any of you guys have them off? could i get new ones somewhere? thanks in advance.

You may be able to remove the vinyl protector with a heat gun.

The protector is part of the manufacturing process. I do not find it in the parts catalog. Visit you local window tint shop and see if they can give you a piece of Clear Bra.

I don't think I would remove that protector. You might try cleaning around it using some instant detailer with a paint brush and a tooth brush. It should be possible to clean the edges and make it look presentable. Why don't you post a picture of your problem?

A heat gun on low or medium, or a blow dryer on high, will make them easy to peel off. They're only there to protect the paint, so removing them won't be a big deal but your paint is going to look very different where they were. I'd try to clean them up like Korner Carver suggested. If that doesn't work, then order some new ones to replace them.
