The only people I see doing this are teenagers with honda $hit boxes that carry their steering wheel around the mall because they think it makes them look cool.

Quick release = anti-theft device.

Most buy for the looks.
Or,because its a "xyz" wheel--status.
You track/race your car,get an appropriate wheel.
Really don't understand...
Older cars back in the 50-60-70's had these huge thin wheels.
Putting in a smaller diameter wheel not only looked good but the car
was easier to steer.Had a beautiful wood Nardi with polished spokes
in a old Jag.
A work of art!

I did it because Hondas are the most stolen vehicles, and I live in Arizona. At the time, I was in North Phoenix which has an insanely high vehicle theft rate. I was 18, and had scraped my pennies for almost 2 years to build a pretty nice Civic.

My car definitely wasn't a hoopty by any means. Hence my motivation for removing the steering wheel, having a crazy alarm, and unhooking my ECU. I did have Rotas though

These days you won't catch me modding a Honda unless it's a weekend only car.

I like having a quick release.
Setup is nag short hub and quick release and personal neo grinta (regular dish) and nardi deep corn.

I have fixed bucket seats in my z and I really like the position of the deep corn when drifting because everything is closer and more comfortable, but when I use signals it's kind of a stretch but you get used to it. Plus it makes it easier to get in and out. But I just throw my wheel on the floor board, never carry it around anywhere.

The personal was closer to stock and if you have stock seats it would be a better choice if it's a looks thing. Either way, quick release isn't a antitheft device by any means, so if it's security you're after, this ain't it... Haha.. Besides you can still drive with out the wheel...

if you drive with handcuffs on, the smaller diameter of the aftermarket racing steering wheels are a plus

why? so you can look cool and pretend you are a racecar driver even though you never have seen a single day on the track, not all but a majority. those that are real racers (track not street) you know who you are this does not apply to you
