Default Waterproof Noah Car Cover

About 1 1/2 years ago I moved into a new place within the Houston Metropolitan area. Rent is high and garages are scarce when you rent. Well, the former garage queen got stranded outside under a lonely car port. Armed only with a good coat of wax and an OEM car cover, it's been a battle trying to keep her prestine with all the dust, sun, and rain exposure. It's been a long year, but I managed to do it somehow.

Last week the Z received it's long awaited armor. I ponied up the $240 and purchased a Noah car cover.

Two major reasons I went with this cover.

1: This thread

https://my350z.com/forum/cleaning-an...olf-175-a.html

2: Discussing it with another moderator who knew more about them than I did.

Apparently the Noah cover isn't 100% waterproof, but pretty damn close.
It's supposidly breathable and won't scratch the car. I was pretty impressed by it's stiching, weight, flexability, fittment, and size. Compared to the OEM cover, it folds under the bumpers further and tighter. It's also stretches over the entire wheel, leaving no metal portion exposed, unlike the OEM cover.

This past weekend I spent a couple days repolishing some peices that had minor corrosion on them due to condensation. I'm hoping all my hard work will be preserved now. It hasn't rained yet, but we'll see how it holds up!

Few pics of the cover and post-polishing...

Very happy with my Noah cover from Wolf. Been on the 350Z and 370Z for 48 months. Pretty impressive considering sun rain and snow.

100 percent waterproof is possible (PCV rainwear is an example) but not something that you want. Condensation UNDER the cover would be a mess. I thought Hey why not make a cover from Gortex? Probabley not realistic because Gortex material is crazy expensive.

Looks good Val, loving that parking sign too

Looking at your carport it should be exactly what you needed but you can let us know how it goes

I read your critique David. Tis was one of the decisive factors of why I purchased it.

The washing instructions say to basically hand wash it in a diluted solution of water and Simple Green. How has your washing experience gone and have you found any alternate methods?

Yes, we had one good hard rain where I neglected to pull the OEM cover off, wipe down the car, wash/dry the cover, and replace it. The condensation reeked havoc under my hood. Bolts had oxidation and my mirrored image plenum was heavily discolored with white oxidation spots. It has taken me a good 3 polishing sessions with a combination of "000" wool and Billet metal polish to restore it. Same went for my wheel lips which were exposed at the bottom portion of the wheel, due to insufficient cover coverage. Drove me nuts. We also have a stray animal somewhere that liked to periodically urinate on the lip of my wheel. Dried urine stains.

Haha, glad you like the sign. I picked it up at the Houston Autorama show several years ago.

+1 on the carport. The rain only hits it from the passenger side, and really only makes it way to the hood and top of car when it's a hard downpour with heavy wind...

I have washed mine several times Val using the simple green mixture, it really works

You just have to ensure you use a commercial washer without a center agitator

I have a though, would spraying some type of water repellent help. Or do you think it just bound to let some water/mositure in.

I don't think that's advisable since it might void the warranty

You want a little breathability in your cover so I would just leave it alone. This is not like the cheap OEM cover, this thing can take the abuse

Commercial front loading machine with a little Tide. Two rinse cycles is good.
Partially dry on low heat just to remove excess water. Dry on car
Treat with ScotchGuard.
My cover has been washed more than 8 times

After washing I have treated the cover with both ScotchGuard and 303 Aerospace Water Repellant. ScotchGuard is superior.

My OEM one is crapping out. Been looking at this cover for a while. I think its time to pull the trigger on it. Nothing but great reviews!
