Default Remove whole air bag system?

I'm wokring on my 06 base model and turning it into a track. I have a full cage, aluminum seats, 5 point seats belt, no interior etc. I haven't yet removed the air bags/ the air bag system.

Is there any particular way this should be done? I would like to remove all the air bags, srs module, and crash zone sensors (everything mainly to save any weight I cant).

I read somewhere in the past, someone removed the SRS module and triggered the NATS system some how? Anything I need to look out for here?

do you have the field service manual?

i just checked the 03 manual... the NATS wiring diagram is independent from the SRS system components. however, there is ONE component, the Data Link Connector that both systems are tied to for CANBUS communication, so probably not remove that piece, just unplug.

the SRS system really doesn't weight that much so maybe just remove the airbags and leave the rest of the boxes..

Yeah I checked the service manual for my 06 and it appears that the only thing is that one wire that runs from Data Link Connector to the SRS Connector. I was only gonna ditch the unit and leave it un cut anyway.

I'm probably gonna give it a shot in the next couple weeks. Remove all the bags, sensors, and module (leaving all the connectors I'll post my results back for everyone else.

Also while looking at the electrical diagram I noticed how the airbag light is "unpowered" by the SRS module by grounding the wire running into pin 15 of the connector. I'm gonna take a look at this also and see what value of a resistor can be used to ground out the pin 15 wire to make the light go out. It's a basic electronics voltage divider; just need to suck away enough current on the pin 15 wire and the air bag light should go out even with the whole system removed.

Dead thread - I know. But what ever happened with this? I’m in the exact same situation with an 06 Base and want to remove everything. Simple as unplug, remove and…?

Unplug and remove. You will have a light on. Solution - take cluster apart and remove led or burn it out.

Thank you for this - Ideally I'd like to find which wires to tap into and either ground out or add a resistor to trick the dash and get the light to go away. But if it comes down to it, I'll just do the good ol cluster mod.
