I find it in the plumber section, and that is the only one that came as close as the original one. The best thing is it only cost me $1.84 I think? gosh! I love Home depot!!

Very Carefully! Otherwise you'll screw up the tranny.

The radiator hose is used, so you won't scratch up or damage the shifter. And plus it gives the wrench a good grip on it. You don't have to use it if you like, I didn't. But my old shifter is all scratch up, but well.

Just to clarify that, you should cut A radiator hose and use that to wrap the **** and shaft, not to be confused with cutting the radiator hose of your car.

Or a good piece of rubber. Something similar to radiator hose. Look around the house or garage for something similar, I used an old knee pad... cut off some rubber in strips. Very durable stuff from my dad's garage

I tried rubber hose at first but I couldn't get a good grip on the shifter or the ****. So I didn't use it. Visegrips on the shifter and adjustible pliers on the ****. Make sure you have a good grip on the **** and it shouldnt scratch too bad. I really had to bear down but it did break free.

Question Shift **** Help

Can someone post a link to some shift **** removal instructions?

I took my car to the dealership for an oil change, and asked if they could fix the piant on the shift **** (it was scratching and flaking off because of the ring on my finger) so they replaced the whole **** with a new one, under warranty. but when they were putting it on, they nicked the bottom of the leather AND they put it on crooked. they said they would fix it if i left my car overnight again (yeah right) so I want to straighten it myself and let them replace it again next time I get my oil changed. thanks for the help.

Personally, I wouldn't screw with it considering the oft chance you may damage the tranny. They may have used the lock-tight on it. If they are going to fix it under warranty I would leave it be.

imho
