Default Steering wheel controls

Hi, I'm new to 350's and this forum, I just got a 2008 base model 350z. I previously owned a 2003 325xi, and the nice thing about BMW's is that no matter what trim package you have, there is only one wiring harness for every trim making it easy to install any option you may want by simply plugging it in to the factory harness.

What I would like to do with my 350 is just install the steering wheel cruise control and/ or audio controls by buying the controls and plugging it in. I've already searched and have found some related topics, but I'm not quite sure if this is possible yet, though I am starting to think that different trims also have different wiring harnesses and if this is the case it probably isn't worth doing because I don't want to start splicing wires.

Thanks for the help,
Dave
